We are back with August blog topics! As the summer continues and the sun keeps shining, it may be hard to sit down and write a blog post. Instead of sitting at your desk, why not take your laptop outdoors and blog on the porch or patio?
Wherever you choose to blog, here are some ideas to help get you started.
1. August is National Eye Exam Month. If your agency specializes in health insurance solutions, this is a great topic to tackle. You can provide eye safety tips for adults and children, or reminders on when to visit the eye doctor and how frequently.
2. The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week, which encourages people to refocus their lives and declutter. While this can pertain to physical objects and tidying up the home, the idea is to eliminate anything can causes you stress or anxiety. Consider writing up a post outlining ways to simplify life at work or home. If you want to, you could find a way to tie this into home insurance.
3. The second week of August is National Smile Week! There are plenty of benefits to smiling, making it a perfect post for benefits brokers. This is also a great opportunity to mention the importance of dental insurance and how oral health can affect your overall well-being.
4. Many of your clients may have children going back to college soon. Write a post reminding them to re-evaluate their auto insurance options. Depending on the situation, they may be able to receive a low-mileage discount.
5. As temperatures continue to rise, write a post about the dangers of heat-related illnesses. Depending on your agency’s target audience, you could offer clients tips to keep their employees safe in the heat or provide individual policyholders advice on how to stay cool during the summer months.
6. Aug. 9 is National Book Lover’s Day. Have each agent in your organization write a quick summary (100 words or less) about their favorite book and why they recommend it! This is a fun activity for the whole office and does not require just one writer. Plus, it’s a great way to engage with your followers.
7. Aug. 21 is Senior Citizens Day. Take this time to write a post about senior citizens and retirement savings when it comes to policies (if you offer such discounts). You could also create a wellness post specifically for senior citizens that offers easy tips to stay healthy.
8. August challenge: Create a video blog on YouTube! This can be an agency effort. Choose a topic, whether you want to share agency news, explain a specific policy or answer a FAQ. Once you create the video, upload it to your blog and share on social media pages too. This is a great way to switch up the type of content you feature on your blog and connect with consumers who may prefer video over long-form blog posts.
9. The last week of August (25-31) is Be Kind to Humankind Week. This is a global celebration that encourages people to reflect on what they can do to make the world a better place. If your agency is actively involved in your community or has an ongoing philanthropy effort, consider featuring it in a blog post. People like to do business with companies that give back.
10. As the month of August comes to a close, consider offering tips for safely storing summer toys and gadgets, such as boats, jet skis, motorcycles and more. Describe what risks may be associated with certain storage methods and any insurance implications they should consider.
Now that you have 10 topics at your fingertips, it is time to put those fingers to work. Start blogging today and begin seeing results!
Thanks! These are great 🙂 Working on my August Blog/Social Media Calendar Now!! (Better late than never right?)

Hey Bianca , I have been writing about Senior Life Insurance from last month. What do you think about its potentiality? I am confused about how to do marketing. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Ahmed,
I think senior life insurance is a great topic and you can do a lot with it. Since your audience is “senior,” I would stick to informational content. You can answer FAQs each week, or even a “Top 10 Reasons Why You Need Senior Life Insurance.” The more clear, simple, and informational, the better. Once you write a blog post, always be sure to post it on your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or any other social sites you may have. Spread the word!
Good luck and I hope this helps 🙂
