A Better Way to Promote Your Insurance Blog Post on Facebook

If you’re already blogging on your insurance website and promoting each blog on your agency’s Facebook page, you’re already ahead of thousands of other agencies out there when it comes to improving your online presence. But, did you know there is an even better way to share your blog post on Facebook? Better than simply sharing the URL and a brief message about the post in the status box?

Last month, we tested a hypothesis. That hypothesis was this: Since photo posts are shared, liked, and commented on more than any other type of post on Facebook, would “Uploading a Photo” with a message and the blog post’s URL in the description get more engagement than simply posting the URL and a message in the status box?

Of course, we chose photos that were highly relevant to what the blog post was about. We recommend using the image you chose to include in the blog post to avoid copyright infringement. Just make sure the images you’re using in your blog posts are images you have a license to use. Often you must pay for the rights to use an image.

What we found? Truly amazing results!

The blog posts promoted via uploading a photo and including a message and the blog’s URL in the description:

  • Reached 79.1% more people on Facebook
  • Engaged 108.3% more users
  • Got on average 146.6% more likes

If that’s not a reason to start promoting your blog posts with photos on Facebook, we don’t know what is! Don’t forget to make the message you post with the photo as compelling as possible. Statistics work and so do “did you know?” types of messages. The goal is really to grab their attention on Facebook and hopefully draw them to your insurance website to read and like your blog post from there.

Activities like that are called “social signals” and they can really help boost your agency’s online presence.
