The ongoing pandemic is having—and will continue to have—a much larger impact on businesses than most of us could have ever originally anticipated. Many companies that were just a few months ago focused on growth are now trying to navigate a remote workforce, or worse, laying off employees and trying to figure out how they’ll be able to re-open their doors when the time comes.
Insurance professionals are struggling to keep up with growing demands, both from clients and from an internal resource perspective. While we are seeing our partners looking for new ways to streamline their operations and transition to a more digital experience, we also wanted to hear what changes some of the insurance industry’s leading consultants are seeing during this trying time.
So, we asked the experts: “In light of recent events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, how have the questions you’ve been getting from agencies changed? What new advice are you giving? Or what guidance that you typically provide is especially valid more now than ever before?”
Entering Survival Mode
According to Kelly Donahue-Piro, Founder and President of Agency Performance Partners, the questions she has received from agencies have changed from growth to survival.
Increased Sense of Urgency
The team at InCite Performance Group says their advice on business priorities for success, such as managing technology paralysis, finding new money and making dramatic productivity improvements, has not changed, but what has is the sense of urgency surrounding the changes.
Re-evaluating Your Priorities
Karen Kirkpatrick, founder of On Your Mark Consulting, echoes the importance of reviewing priorities at this time. She says, before they can help others, as they are inclined to do first and foremost, brokers need to help themselves.
Looking Ahead
The predominant sentiment among the experts is the need for re-prioritization and business evolution to survive during this pandemic. When brokers make the necessary adjustments to better help both themselves and their clients, they’ll set themselves up for greater success in the new normal we’ll continue to experience in the months and years to come.
