Blogging may seem like a daunting task, but that’s no reason to stop yourself from trying! While figuring out what to post and when may seem overwhelming at first, blogging is not as scary as it may seem. Blogging is an important part of your insurance marketing strategy and it should be embraced by your agency.

You may be thinking, “What should I write about?” You may even wonder why people would want to read your blog in the first place. Well, here’s the thing, if you write about interesting topics that readers can relate to, then why wouldn’t they want to read your blog? The key is to blog about useful information, such as how-to guides or even just helpful tips and reminders.

Another good strategy is to design your blog posts around the seasons. For instance, now that temperatures are beginning to drop, it’s the perfect time to start blogging about fall topics that will resonate with you readers.

5 Fall Blogging Ideas for Your Agency

Here are a few ideas to help you get started writing this fall:

  1. Back to school – Offer your readers after-school safety advice or helpful tips on how to avoid germs in the classroom. You could also educate your readers about the importance of the flu shot and offer other flu- and cold-prevention tips.

  2. Hurricane season – Depending on where you live, you may have clients who could be impacted by hurricane season. Write a blog post educating your readers about what types of insurance can protect their home and how to re-evaluate their current policy to make sure it offers the protection they need in case of a disaster.

  3. Fall preparations – A new season means new insurance risks for homeowners. Share tips with your audience about how to protect their home this fall (for instance, raking their roof, winterizing pipes or preventing pests) in order to avoid costly claims.

  4. Halloween safety – While Halloween is a fun time of the year, there are many safety considerations to consider. Create a post reminding people about trick-or-treat safety tips or, if you’re a P&C broker, about the importance of liquor liability insurance if clients are hosting a party with alcohol.

  5. Safe driving in fall conditions – As the sun begins to set earlier and daylight saving time ends, many people will spend more time driving in the dark. According to the National Safety Council, while we do only a quarter of our driving at night, that’s when 50% of traffic deaths happen. Consider writing a post that reminds people about the dangers of night driving and offers tips to keep them safe on the road.

These blogging topics will not only engage your readers, but will be informative and worth their time to read. So, it’s time to sit down and start writing!
