Part of the deal of owning and operating and insurance agency involves working with employees and leading them through the good times and the bad. However, it’s natural for morale to sometimes decrease, which may cause employees to lose motivation along the journey. When this happens, productivity can take a significant dip so it’s important to avoid employee dissatisfaction at all costs. If you’re looking for new ways to motivate your employees in 2013, here are some tips courtesy of us:
- Act as a role model and help employees identify what they are passionate about at your agency. Provide them with projects and duties you think will better suit what they’re happier with or more interested in.
- Clearly define your agency’s vision, strategy and overall mission in addition to the goals of each employee. Everyone on your team should understand how important their individual role is and how it affects the company as a whole. Positive team energy will help motivate!
- Work with each employee to create their own personal development plan. Provide them with guidance and mentoring in order to help increase their skills and enlighten their sense of accomplishment. It’s important to let employees know that they are actually making strides and improving from an individual and team standpoint.
- Keep an eye on the progress of your agency employees in regards to accomplishing their goals and tasks. In some cases, giving out rewards for good work and positive attitudes may help in improving employee progress on tasks and projects and keep them motivated for the long haul.
Motivating employees initially can be easy, but maintaining their motivation is what’s most difficult. If you want to keep you and your employees on the same wavelength while helping them achieve their goals, keep this list in mind for a future reference. Your insurance marketing efforts may see improved results if you have everyone working hard and staying passionate about a common goal.
