Your employees are a significant aspect of your company, so are you doing everything you can to keep them not only happy, but energized? Satisfied? Excited? It’s important that you don’t let employees get into a funk or else their work might suffer. When employee work suffers, it could affect the overall goals of your agency. Do you want that to happen? Of course not. Let’s take a look at ways you can improve employee satisfaction while also improving your agency:
- Give them control/freedom: There aren’t many individuals out there who prefer to be micromanaged. While we’re not sure what type of management system you have at your agency, we recommend giving employees freedom over their schedules, tasks and work habits. Sales competitions are also a good way to put control in their hands because it gives them direct ownership of their success.
- Free up time: Does your agency often have long and seemingly interminable meetings? Try to free up more time for your employees to get work done instead of meetings that may not even be necessary. Consider having meetings with no chairs. This may speed things a long and help get to the point of the meeting.
- Create an atmosphere for growth: Some jobs fall victim to simply being a source of income, but are there actual opportunities for employees to grow? No one likes being stuck at dead end jobs, so your agency might want to think about including more chances for raises and promotions. We understand that this may simply not be in the cards for independent agencies, but we recommend making the effort if certain avenues are possible.
Your employees are the ones who keep the agency humming, and it’s important that they are getting the certain things they need to be successful in our agency. There’s a difference being successful and wanting to be successful, and we hope you agency reflects the latter. If you think you need more help motivating your staff, you might want to look into insurance sales training.
