April is fast approaching, which means it is time to start planning your social media posts for the month. If you are struggling to find inspiration, here are a few ideas to get you started.

  1. April showers bring concerns of flooding. Link to a product page on your website or a blog about the importance of flood insurance and outline what clients need to know to keep their homes safe. April showers also require umbrellas, which is a great segue to ask your followers if they are covered with umbrella insurance. (Be sure to include a link to your product page!)

  2. It’s time for spring cleaning! Link to a spring-cleaning checklist to remind homeowners to keep their houses safe and claim-free by changing the air filters in their HVAC system, checking their water heater and water holding tank, ensuring fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly, and more.

  3. April is Stress Awareness Month. Stress can lead to many long-term health problems. Be sure to post tips for being productive and stress-free at work, or a link to an article on de-stressing and tips for getting proper sleep and exercise.

  4. The roads change a lot after a long winter, with rain and potholes being a particular problem in April and throughout the spring. In recognition of Car Care Month, post a driving safety tip or two each week. This is also a good opportunity to share a link to your website on your auto insurance offerings.

  5. April is Alcohol Awareness Month. Share a few facts about drinking and driving, as well as some tips to avoid alcohol-related accidents. Warn drivers of the affect drinking and driving can have on their insurance premiums and the safety of those around them.

  6. As we transition into spring, there are lots of local events and activities going on in your community. Find one of your favorites and advertise it on your Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. Ask your followers what community springtime events they are most looking forward to in order to connect with your followers on a more personal level.

  7. With April being Records and Information Management Month, now is a great time to remind your followers to review their policies. It is recommended that individuals and organizations review their insurance policies at least once a year to make sure their coverage best meet their needs.

  8. Does your agency sell insurance for watercrafts, RVs, motorcycles or ATVs? With the transition of seasons, now is a great time to post about safety, state regulations, and other tips and advice for safely using these modes of transportation. You should also remind readers to review their insurance policies (or consider purchasing one if they have not already).

  9. Celebrate Diversity Month is observed throughout April. Use this opportunity to highlight how your organization is prioritizing diversity and inclusion or share some tips on creating a welcoming culture.

Now that you have a few ideas for posts this April, it’s time to get your social media efforts rolling. Try to be active on your social networks at least once a day, and engage your followers and fans with some creative ideas!
