Smartphone usage is growing by leaps and bounds in our culture. Sometimes it seems like a negative trend as people are buried in their phones at restaurants, social events, and even walking down the street. However, it doesn’t have to be negative if you approach it the right way. It can be a positive thing for your agency, one that shows you are involved in the community you serve.
Let’s back up a little. According to Unified Social, mobile users are nearly twice as likely to share content on social networks as desktop users. Not only that, according to this research, Facebook Fan Page posts from mobile devices are 39% more engaging. So what does that mean for your agency? It means that many people go on social networks with their mobile devices, so your agency could benefit from adding mobile into your social media strategy.
Simply put, start using your Smartphone to share community-oriented activities that you are involved in; now that the warm weather is here, there are opportunities abound.
Here are some suggestions for mobile social posting on Facebook:
- Community Landmarks –Visiting a local lighthouse, park, beach, fishing pier, or farm? These are excellent opportunities to share beautiful photos with your network.
- Local businesses – If you’re out a café for lunch, share it with your social network. You’ll be doing some good for a local business (who may be a client) and you’ll be letting your friends and followers know that you support local businesses.
- Sports – Is your agency sponsoring a youth baseball, softball, soccer, or lacrosse league? Post a photo of a game in action. Some of the parents of these young athletes may work at your agency and may be happy to do it. Always ask permission of the parents before posting photos and if you’re not sure about permission, snap a picture of the team logo instead.
- Charitable events – Is anyone in your agency participating in a race, golf tournament, or another event to raise money for a good cause? Ask them to take a photo of the event and post it on your social networks. This kind of sharing will let people know that it’s important to your agency to help others.
There are many other places and events you can post about that will be an upbeat way to engage with the people in your networks. You’ll be spreading some positive energy around too.
