Since joining Twitter and setting up your agency’s account, have you had trouble increasing your amount of followers? Getting new followers for your Twitter can be challenging, and in a way it is more difficult than acquiring more Facebook “likes.” So how should your agency go about getting new users to follow your account? Try these easy steps for the best results:

1. Follow more accounts: The first thing you should have done after setting up your Twitter account is follow other accounts, especially other insurance agencies and other professional accounts. If you’re around only 100 followers, we suggest increasing your following count to around 200 or 250. The more people you follow, the more chance you have of them following you back. By using Twitter search and looking at who your similar accounts follow, you can easily find new accounts to follow yourself.

2. Tweet more often: Nobody wants to follow a barren account. If you tweet less than once a day and the information you’re providing is not useful or relevant to your followers, you will lose followers in addition to not being able to get new ones. Your tweets should have easy to understand messages and usually providing a link to an interesting story is a good way to gain traction.

3. If you have a blog, tweet it! If you’re constantly updating your agency’s blog, you should always be tweeting new posts as well as occasionally tweeting older ones in case any of your followers missed them. Your blogs may provide solutions to common problems related to your products as well as lead them to your insurance agency website, so your goal should be providing information and wisdom to your followers!

Twitter can be a tricky social media platform to get acquainted to, and growing your number of followers is not easy. These are just some quick tips if you’ve been having trouble, but feel free to search online for any additional guidelines as well!
