How to take advantage

Let’s look at an example to see how to use a roadmap in practice. Say you have a prospect who identified workers’ compensation costs as a pain point in your first conversation. You want to demonstrate the expertise you can provide, but aren’t sure where to start.

  1. The Workers’ Compensation Roadmap gets you started with a list of pertinent Sales Binders to highlight your resources. Choose one or two from the list to take to your second meeting. One particularly relevant binder today would be the Mod Sales Binder, in light of the NCCI split-point change for 2013, which is a great opportunity for educating prospects about how their business will be impacted.
  2. During the meeting your prospect mentions that OSHA compliance and return to work were two primary concerns. For your final meeting, put together a presentation that addresses those issues, using documents specifically listed under those subheadings in the roadmap.
  3. You’ve won the business—but you’re work isn’t done. Now you have to deliver on those promises. You start by talking about implementing a comprehensive safety program… and are surprised to get push-back. The roadmap offers resources on the need for safety, so you start educating your client’s decision makers.
  4. Once you’ve got buy-in, the roadmap will help you navigate each step as you educate and support your client (and further develop your expertise along the way), including dozens of resources on the following topics:
    • Building a safety culture
    • OSHA compliance
    • Integrating wellness and safety
    • Reducing injury costs through planning and communication
    • Creating and maintaining a return to work program
    • Educating your client on the experience modification factor
    • Auditing your client’s workers’ compensation premium
  5. The roadmap concludes with quick and easy campaigns you can subscribe your client to, to offer monthly resources on workers’ compensation and safety—with no work required on your end.
