Tagging People Via Your Company Facebook Page

In recent weeks, there has been a change to the way tagging works on business Facebook pages. In the past, your insurance agency was able to post a photo of their staff and tag each employee, respond to loyal fans, and give shout outs to neighbors and friends. However the recent changes have disabled that feature, limiting tagging only to pages, not personal profiles.

While there has been plenty of talk among Facebook Forums and Industry blogs, there is no likelihood that this will be reinstated by Facebook. As of now it stands to be a way to limit the amount of un-wanted friend requests and spamming to those who are tagged on business pages.

There is good news however. We have come up with a strategy for you in the meantime.

How Your Insurance Agency Can Respond

There is still a small work around for those who would like to leverage personal tagging on Facebook. Instead of sharing a photo or update on your business page and tagging, you can share the update on your personal page and share it via your business page. (See Right Inset).

While tagging for people is limited, tagging businesses it is still an important tool to use in your social media strategy.
