Positive energy, when harnessed, can be contagious – unfortunately, so can negative energy. Have you ever been around someone who was so down about just about everything that suddenly you found yourself in a bad mood? It can happen! The people you surround yourself with and allow yourself to learn and grow from are the people who will influence you. This is why hiring and maintaining the right people for your agency is imperative to its success.

Attitude is contagious – in your agency, you want people with positive, enthusiastic and dedicated attitudes. You want people who are passionate about what they are doing every day, and you want people who are willing to learn and able to teach everyone else a thing or two. Positive thoughts translate into a positive way of doing business.

This might mean you need to answer some tough questions:

  1. Is everyone on your agency’s staff positively contributing to the overall atmosphere?
  2. Does your agency’s staff believe in what they are doing?
  3. Do you have an effective mentoring system in place?

Belief and positive attitude is a choice. If your staff is not choosing to believe in why you are selling insurance or coming in every single day ready to take on the world, are they really an asset to your agency? Positives do not come from negatives. If there are negative attitudes plaguing your agency’s staff, you run the risk that eventually it can spread.

As an agency owner, you want to be sure that the only attitude spreading through your staff is positivity and passion. This might mean that you have to change around the way your team works. At the end of the day, your goal is to run a successful insurance agency, and you cannot do that with negativity. So at the end of the day, if a tough decision stands between your agency’s successes – go with the choice that ends in increased positivity every single time.
