Happy New Year everyone! Now that the holidays are over, it is time to get back to business and improve your insurance marketing strategies for 2012. Are you planning on making any changes to your strategy this year? Maybe you will decide to blog three days a week as opposed to one. Maybe you will make time in the morning and evening to post on your social media accounts. Whatever you decide to do, it is sure to add to your success!

To those working on social media: we understand that you may be stumped for topics. It is not easy to always find interesting things going on in your community! However, we have a few ideas to share that are GREAT for January posts! Whether you are tweeting or updating your Facebook status, these ideas will work perfectly for both.

  • Ask how your followers’ and fans’ resolutions are coming along.
  • Get debates going by posting about the upcoming Superbowl.
  • Ask followers and fans what their favorite gift or memory was from their holiday.
  • Offer news articles and advice on dealing with winter weather.
  • Write a blog post about saving on heating and energy costs this winter and share it on your social sites!
  • Find motivating quotes that will help followers and fans keep their resolutions.
  • Comment about the winter weather and remind fans and followers why they need specific policies.
  • Start a tradition. For example, you can start “Monday Morning Motivation” and post motivational quotes or lyrics to get the week started!

Using social media in small business is a great way to build a community and be recognized. As long as you keep your posts interesting, entertaining and informative, your followers and fans are sure to always come back for more.

Are you up for a challenge? Check out your number of fans and followers at this very moment. Record this number and start using these tips. Every month, write down the increase of fans and followers. If you keep this up for a year, you are guaranteed to see quite a change! How is that for motivation?
