What is community outreach?
Community outreach allows anyone – a company or individual- to donate time and resources that benefit the community or the institutions in that community. In the local insurance industry, we have found that agencies are spending a great deal of time on community outreach. Is your agency?
Community outreach can be a great way to give back to those who already know and love your agency. It can also be a great way to reach out to those who may not know how great you are yet!
How can a local insurance agency start a community outreach initiative or program?
Because you live and work in a local community, you already know both the risks and benefits of writing local policies. At Zywave, we’ve found that while most agencies buy ads in the yearbook when asked, they lack a robust community improvement strategy to tap into their local marketplace.
Most agents that do give and serve, often aren’t doing it to gain economic return. Yet, community organizations also benefit from your marketing and promotion strategies. For example, try donating to a community organization for every policy your agency binds. Make it as simple as $5 per policy, or even $1 for every new Facebook like the agency gets. These incentives generate buzz for your agency and the community organization. Plus, those passionate about your community also receive coverage. Promotion of your community spirit isn’t bragging, but sheds light on positive community improvement.
